Rasheed Naz, a veteran actor, died on Monday, according to his family. The actor was 73 years old when he died. Actress Madiha Rizvi confirmed the news on Instagram. She captioned a photo of Naz with, “This morning, our beloved Baba Rashid Naz passed away peacefully. Please recite Surah Fateha for the soul that has passed away.”
At 3 p.m., funeral prayers for the legendary actor will be conducted at Charsadda Road Eid Gah.
Naz, born in Peshawar in 1948, had a fruitful career of over forty years. In 1971, he started his television career as an actor in Pushto television play. His first Urdu play was Aik Tha Gaoon (1973). His first popular play was Namoos. He also worked in Pakistan’s first private television play Dasht, telecast on N T M. The celebrated star has worked in several Pashto, Hindko and Urdu language plays.
Apart from Urdu projects, Naz worked in his first Pashto film Zama Jang (Meri Jang) in 1988. He made his big-screen debut with Syed Noor’s Dakait. The actor was lauded for his roles in Shoaib Mansoor’s films Khuda Ke Liye and Verna. Naz also worked in a Mansoor-directed popular track, Ishq Mohabbat Apnapan starring Iman Ali.
