The Punjab government has eased the requirements for school teacher promotions as 400,000 teachers in primary, elementary, and senior schools are anticipated pay rise from the change.
Primary school teachers will be promoted to BS-17, elementary teachers to BS-19, and senior school teachers to BS-20 under the new regulations.
The provincial government’s decision to loosen the requirements for school teacher promotions has been praised by the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU).
According to a PTU official, teachers used to wait years for promotions before retiring in low grades. With the new regulations, they won’t have to wait, though.
Dr. Murad Raas, the education minister for Punjab, stated last month that 14,000 instructors in public sector educational institutions will be regularized.
