As the world recognizes October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pakistani telecom company Ufone contributes to raising awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of the disease by lighting up the ‘Ufone Tower,’ a landmark building in the heart of Islamabad, in bright pink colours.
This project aims to raise breast cancer awareness and prevent the disease from spreading among Pakistani women. Breast cancer is one of the top causes of death in women around the world. Unfortunately, Pakistan has one of the highest rates of patients diagnosed with the condition in Asia, and the numbers are constantly increasing each year. Approximately 1.38 million new cases are diagnosed annually and nearly 0.5 million women succumb to the disease every year in Pakistan due to late detection.

Every year, the Ufone Tower is illuminated in pink to demonstrate support for the cause and to raise awareness through self-examination workshops for early detection and increased survival chances. Furthermore, these seminars focus on debunking prevalent misunderstandings about this condition, as well as finding efficient ways to halt the development of this life-threatening sickness.
Ufone Tower will stay pink during the entire month of October as a reminder about the perils of this disease that is often ignored, downplayed or stigmatized. The initiative comes in line with Ufone’s long term commitment towards the wellbeing of its users as is evident from its cherished motto of ‘Tum Hi Tou Ho’!
