Pia Illegal Recruitment Reference Heard In Accountability Court

ISLAMABAD:  An Accountability Court heard a case involving unlawful recruitment at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) against PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and other defendants on Monday.

In today’s hearing, Tariq Mehmood Pasha, a co-accused, cross-examined NAB witness Irfan Afzal.

Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, the head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), did not appear in court after being granted a permanent exemption from the case hearing.

The court set a new date for the reference hearing on October 20.

The National Accountability Bureau has named PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, former aviation secretary Irfan Elahi, former PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool, Raheel Ahmed, and Tariq Pasha as accused.

In an early hearing, the charges were made against the accused, but they denied them, prompting the court to order the prosecution to provide evidence and witnesses to establish the charges against the accused.
