Pakistan imported vehicles worth $266.2 million in the first three months of the current fiscal year, representing a 669 percent rise in vehicle imports over the same period the previous fiscal year.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce, individuals imported automobiles worth $34.6 million in the first quarter of 2020 (July-September).
Imports were $123.25 million in July this year, compared to $19.36 million in July last year.
Similarly, in August 2021, automobiles worth $141.43 million were imported, compared to $15.7 million in August 2020.

Meanwhile, in September this year, Pakistan imported vehicles stood at $1.6m, as compared to September 2020 when they were a mere $0.2m.
Sources within the ministry said that the government is taking different measures to restrain imports of expensive and luxury cars.
