ABBOTTABAD: The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) has declared that the Ayubia chairlift would be closed to visitors after more than five decades of operation, citing that further usage might endanger human life.
The GDA’s director-general, Raza Ali Habeeb, stated that the Ayubia chairlift will be closed to tourists since it is no longer safe. He stated, “This chairlift was constructed in 1965 and will now be stopped because it might endanger human life.”

In a statement, Raza Ali Habib stated that after consulting with the foreign operator, it was agreed to shut down the Ayubia chairlift with immediate effect, and that it will reopen when the old equipment was replaced with new modern and state-of-the-art gear.
The new chairlift, according to the DG, will be safer and more comfortable for tourists.
It’s worth noting that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken steps to promote tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions of Pakistan.
Imran Khan launched a chairlift at Malam Jabba under the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province in 2016.
