Boskalis has been awarded a contract worth about EUR 450 million for the shipping and installation of monopile foundations and substations for the building of an offshore wind farm.
Boskalis‘ impressive track record in offshore wind energy began in Europe and has now spread to Asia and the United States’ East Coast. Boskalis‘ unique maritime transport and installation skills, as well as its adaptable heavy transport fleet and state-of-the-art Bokalift 1 and Bokalift 2 crane boats, are appropriate for large-scale offshore wind projects. This contract binds one year’s worth of crane vessel utilisation days as well as the equivalent of two years’ worth of heavy transport vessels for one year. Engineering and pre-construction work has already begun, with project completion expected in 2023.
Boskalis’ strategy is aimed at leveraging on key macro-economic factors which drive worldwide demand in our markets: expansion of the global economy, increase in energy consumption, global population growth and the challenges that go hand in hand with climate change. This project is related to the development of generating renewable energy due to climate change and increasing energy consumption.
