Italy eyed increasing bilateral trade with Pakistan and now the European country announced rolling out thousands of visas for the people of the South Asian nation.
In a recent development, Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferries has revealed that his country had issued visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis last year, and this year they will issue visas to more Pakistanis, however he refrained from quoting the exact number of visas.
Talking to a private TV channel, the Italian envoy said that last year Italy gave visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis. “It hopes the number of visas will increase this year. The Pakistani community from Italy sent 1 billion euros to Pakistan last year,” he added.
To a question, he replied Pakistan – a country of 220 million people – is a big market for Italian goods.
